[Chr24] Frozen Waters
A deep breath in, aaaaaand out.
The salty sea, the distant smell of the fish in the oven, it was an.. odd smell. If one listened, one could hear the waves as they battered the sides of the boat they were propelling forward. There was absolutely nothing out here. The water seemed to go on for miles, the shimmer catching the setting sun as it went to say goodbye. Reflecting the dusk-set sky, creating a near perfect image made of ripples. It was a beautiful sight, even if one didn't like the idea of being out at sea. The boat rocked gently, surprisingly. How it wasn't about to tip over was the main reason of surprise. Aeris watched as the sky turned to the deep blue of the night sky, the stars beginning to find their places to shine as they didn't have the sun to interfere. It was peaceful to sit there and take it all in. Grounding, one might say if it weren't for the fact land was distant. There was soon a soft patter of feet, and as Aeris went to turn around and see, she stood up.
"Can't sleep?" She asked as she saw Zana was the one who had been walking up. "You've been out here for hours now." Zana explained before Aeris paused and simply sat back down. She didn't have much of an excuse for it, she just liked the scenery. It was serene to her. But Zana was right, it was late, and the four had a long day ahead of them. Once they reached the island, they would have to travel to find the Rohaara stones. Why them? They had no idea, but it wasn't their place to defy the Yarujai that asked it of them. Aeris soon let out a sigh and stood back up, "Let's go, then."
The two of them walked inside, looking over and taking note of Luna and Moonie, and couldn't help but wonder what Moonie's Gingerbread Shoon was up to. Writing it off for now, they got to their beds and laid down to rest. Zana was pretty quick to fall asleep, but Aeris' mind wandered. She wasn't sure how long she just laid in the bed waiting to fall asleep before she finally heard it. A loud scraping sort of noise before the boat halted to a stop. Everybody was quick to get up from their spots, looking around the cabin to see if there had been any damage they could see immediately. Thankfully, none. But they weren't cleared just yet. They quickly ran outside to see what was going on when they noticed everything seemed normal, and yet they were still. There was the view of the distant island, and they couldn't help but wonder if it was really just their luck to get stuck so far yet so close to their destination. They pondered for a moment before Luna finally looked over the edge of the boat.
"ICE?!" She couldn't mask her surprise at the reason they had been stopped.
The group was silent for a moment before they heard the footsteps of the captain, looking back they saw her as she approached, "I've taken a look over everything, and it looks like we're stuck until morning." They took glances at one another as they all wondered if there was anything else that could be done. Like, now. Though because of how dark it was, it wasn't like any of them were going to volunteer to do the work that was needed to get them out of this predicament.
"What should we do?" Moonie finally asked as her Gingerbread Shoon came over, moving away from the boat to take a look from the safety atop its cloud. It almost seemed like he looked over the damages before falling back into the boat and simply resting.
"Guess your little friend didn't find anything of use, we might as well just wait until morning."
They couldn't really argue with the captain there, it was late, they were tired, and it was a fool's errand to go trying to fix it this late at night.
