Frozen Beliefs 

Lexas, Kimura, Hisashi and Masamune looked at the child, unsure about what to do now. Next to the little one was its mother, frozen to death, killed by the merciless nature. Kimura's eyes focused more clearly on her corpse. She was covered in wounds, probably fled from her pursuers while fighting for her child's life. Full of humbleness, he lowered his head and closed his eyes, honoring her sacrifice. His son Hisashi was observing the child. “This is strange”, he thought while looking at the iced horns of the child. It was still a baby so he didn't want to make any sudden moves and tried to be as cautiously as possible. Carefully he looked at the chest. Icicles seemed to grow…out of his heart? Slowly the child opened its eyes for the first time, looking straight at Hisashi and Kimura. Its pupils had the shape of a snowflake. A little further back were Masamune and Lexas, discussing what they should do now. “I say we kill it”, Lexas said seriously and turned his cold gaze to the little child. The situation was suspicious, it was too strange. Masamune however hissed at him immediately, angry about the words he heard. “It's a baby, sucker”! - “Sure. A baby ready to kill us all, idiot”, - Lexas’ sharp eyes turned to his counterpart and everyone in the area could feel the tension between them getting bigger and stronger. It would only take a spark and the tension would turn into an action. Hisashi sighed when he heard them arguing and was looking at Kimura who opened his eyes slowly. “The idiots are arguing again”, - “I don't care”, Kimura said coldly and his eyes found the child, coloured in tinted blue. Before they found the dead mother and her baby he saw an entity disappearing in the snow. Maybe. Could it be? Was there a connection between this entity and the child? Or was it a new kind of curse? But before Kimura could share his thoughts to Hisashi he heard Masamune screaming enraged. “I'll kill you, asshole”! Father and son looked back at the two squabblers, who were about to start a fight. “Not if I kill you first”! Lexas shouted and drew his sword reinforced by shadows. “Try it”, - Masamune drew a sword too, longer than the one he was holding but definitely weaker. “If you don't stop them they'll scare away the child”, Hisashi said with a quick look at the little one who was next to its mother's stiff body, trembling with fear. “Fine”, Kimura agreed and ran between them, stopping their swords with his bare hands. “Stop this, now”! - his voice echoed through the air, dangerous and cold as ice, letting Masamune and Lexas fall into the soft snow. The child looked up slowly and watched him with curiosity. A cold breeze blew through his hair, making him look like a hero. Masamune got up slowly and went speechless forward into the direction of the child, joining Hisashi. Kimura's glaze focused on Lexas, who sat up and closed his eyes in a huff.  “Lexas”, - he wanted him to join them but he was stubborn and offended like always. Kimura sighed and turned around, looking at the boys who started talking about the situation. “So what's the plan?” Masamune asked and watched the ice-horned child with fascinated eyes.“I don't know. Let's wait for my father”, - his comrade nodded understandingly and crossed his arms, while looking at the child. “I've never seen something like this”, - “Yeah, it's unbelievable”, Hisashi said quietly and joined him, looking at the tinted blue child with the snowflake pupils. Both had no clue what could cause the little one to look like this but they couldn't deny its cuteness. “I saw an entity”, - Kimura stood next to them and his sudden words frightened them for a short moment. “An Entity?” Hisashi asked and his father nodded. “Maybe someone who turned the child into this”, Masamune assumed thoughtfully. “And if this was a foe and everything is just a big ambush?” - they turned around and looked at Lexas who came closer, mistrustful looking at the child. “No, this wasn't a foe. I don't know what it could've been either honestly but definitely not someone who wanted to harm us”, Kimura said confidently and looked into the direction they came from. “What should we do now? We can't let it here and risk losing it to nature like its mother”, - Kimura's eyes switched on his son and he started to think about his words. Hisashi was right. The cold would kill this innocent baby or maybe it was already immune, depending if this child has a special ability. However, Lexas was right too. What if they take the child with them and it turns into a monster that kills everyone. Masamune made a step forward spontaneously, went down onto his knees and looked at the child. “Don't be afraid, you're safe now. We'll take care of you”, he whispered and the child looked at him with big eyes. “My name is Masamune. You will soon get one too”, - his soft smile let the child decide to watch the others and while Kimura and Hisashi tried to smile at least a bit friendly, Lexas crossed his arms, looking away. “Don't stare at me, I don't trust you”, - he hissed full of anger because he couldn't believe his comrades to be that naive. The child's eyes however stayed on the pissed boy. “Say something nice”, Hisashi demanded and Lexas looked at the little one again, staring deeply in its eyes. He sighed. “Fine. You. Ehm. You're looking cute”, - a forced smile appeared on his lips and let him look creepy. Unsure the child looked at the full group again, not knowing what to do now. Its mother was dead, her warmth and life were gone and will never come back. It was too young to flee, too young to run away from these 4 Bucks. They didn't seem hostile but the little one was afraid of them nevertheless. Suddenly Masamune got closer and carefully picked the little baby up, wrapping his arms around it. It closed its tiny eyes exhausted and just felt the comfortable warmth of its saviour.
